At Fred Astaire of Red Bank, we are always excited to bring in coaches to work with our students. Throughout March, we have the privilege to invite two notable dancers: Anya Garnis (best known from So You Think You Can Dance) and Martin Lamb (World Champion).
Anya Garnis, known primarily from "So You Think You Can Dance?", was born in 1982 in Russia. She began dancing at the age of nine, and received formal training at a Russian dance school for eight years. After working at a law firm in her home country, she moved to the United States in 2001 and currently lives in New York City. Anya classifies her dance style as ballroom and Latin, and claims that she has no time for any thing else. Dancing is her life! She has been dancing for the past nine years with partner Pasha Kovalev.
Martin Lamb started dancing at the age of 9 and progressed through the ranks of Juvenile, Junior, Youth, and then Amateur. In 1987 he turned professional and won many competitions and titles. In 1996 he decided to hang up his competitive dance shoes and give back by coaching, lecturing, and judging. Some of his accolades include being the holder of 14 regional championships in the UK; United Kingdom Professional 10 Dance Champion; and World Professional 10 Dance Champion!
